Fresh Air Sheets

We haven't been a healthy house the past week.  Mara had an ear infection a week ago, and Lance and I both started getting cold symptoms last weekend.  We were both couch potatoes most of the weekend.  I went to bed before 8:00 Sunday night hoping I'd feel better Monday morning.  Not the case.  Lance had some things he had to get done at work, but I didn't think I'd be able to handle both kids by myself very well.  So, Grandma Janet came to the rescue and took Mara to their house.  Mara jumped into Grandma's van and didn't even want a kiss before she left.  She wasn't even too excited to see me the next morning when I picked her up.  Honestly, I'm glad she LOVES going there, so it doesn't hurt my feelings too much that she doesn't miss me one bit!

Who doesn't love the smell of sheets dried outside in the fresh air??  I've been trying to talk Lance into putting up a clothesline in the yard for quite awhile now.  He was totally against the idea at first, but I finally talked him into it.  We've gone back and forth about what kind to put up but finally decided on one.

My mom used to hang clothes out to dry on our clothesline when we were growing up.  I have a few memories of helping her hang up wet clothes and take down the dry ones.  Mara was very interested in what I was doing the first day.  As I was hanging up some washcloths, I told her we put two washcloths per clothespin and so she was counting them.  I was then thinking about why I had said two per clothespin, but then I remembered that's what Mom always told us.  Funny how little memories just come back at moments like that.

Thank you Lance for helping me bring back childhood memories and passing them on to our kids!

  1. I don't know if Lance will remember or not, but we used to take a big bed sheet (flat, not fitted) and hang it over the line for a make shift tent! Not sure what we used to keep the corners down...for some reason, I am remembering bricks. Anyway, we used to have picnics in our tent!
