Mara has been drooling the last few weeks and has been waking during the night for about a month. We didn't see any evidence of two year molars until yesterday. You can't really see them too well in this picture, but it was the best one I could get. Temperatures of up to 102.5 have been accompanying these vicious pearly whites!
Her previous erupting teeth didn't seem to bother her too much. A little numbing gel and she was good to go. These two year molars have been quite an experience! Starting with drool...I don't mean just a little drool. This picture doesn't do justice to the amount of drool that has been flowing out of this girl's mouth! I have to change her shirt and sometimes shorts several times a day. She has been very crabby and tends to get worked up easily; this causes her to start gagging on the spit in her mouth and she ends up vomiting spit. I suppose she has a bunch in her stomach from swallowing it. Gross. Gross. Gross.
She didn't sleep well last night and neither did her brother. I don't think Lance or I got more than 30 minutes of sleep at a time until about 3:00 AM. It felt like we had newborn twins. Mara doesn't like to watch movies or cartoons, but she loves her Leapfrog DVD's that Grandpa Alan and Grandma Janet gave her. None of us had much energy to do anything but lounge around most of the day watching these two DVD's over and over. I may go crazy if I have to watch these two movies again tomorrow.
This is the "Are you seriously trying to hide medicine in my apple sauce?" face. She liked her "juice" the first couple of times but for whatever reason began refusing to drink it. We've only given her liquid medicine a couple of times, so we had to brainstorm some creative ways to get her to take it. Applesauce didn't work if you can't tell by the look on her face! She smelled it several times and determined this wasn't her normal applesauce. The Rychnovsky's came to the rescue last night when they brought over homemade ice cream. Mara's ended up being strawberry flavored! Slushies are the latest thing that have been working.
Only two of four molars are poking through, but I can see the other two ready to make their grand entrance. I guess that means I need to stock up on slushies, Mortrin and some new DVD's. Turning two is tough stuff.
