Colorado - The Wild Animal Sanctuary

This sanctuary was amazing!  Definitely better than any zoo I've ever been to.  This sanctuary rescues animals from various places - pet owners, zoos, circuses, etc.  One of the staff members said that some zoos aren't very good in the sense that they breed animals to have babies because it brings in people and obviously makes them more money.  Eventually they get too many animals because of this, so the extras get caged and left in rooms to live out their lives.
We walked out on this mile long walkway above all of the animals.  Some of the new animals are confined to small areas until they get used to the sanctuary and the other animals.

The bear's lunch - there's even a donut in there!

We got to see a video of them loading up and bringing the lions to the sanctuary.  It was very interesting!

This poor lion was just pacing along the fence!  Not sure if the animals across the fence belong to the sanctuary or someone else, but the lion sure would have liked them for lunch!
