Being a Mommy is much harder than I ever imagined. It's also much more fulfilling than I ever imagined. I struggle most days. I feel guilty many times throughout the day. Loving our two kids is easy but meeting all of their needs at the same time isn't. My friend SS shared an article called Transitional mom: becoming a mother of two. Thanks so much for sharing, SS! I feel like I wrote this article. It's always comforting to know other people feel the same way. I know I have friends who probably also feel this way, but we just don't take the time to share it.
I had a wonderful "mommy moment" the other day. Mara was quietly playing with blocks in the kitchen while I was making supper, and the next thing I know Micah is running around the island with a block and Mara was running after him screaming. I got them settled back down, and the same thing happened again and again. After about the third time, I finally realized he was doing it on purpose. I have to admit I did sit back and chuckle. He'd grab a block and take off just as fast as he could, and she'd chase him around the island until she caught him. The looks on their faces were priceless. Micah has definitely has perfected the art of bugging his sister.
The best part was a few minutes later. They both sat down and were quietly playing side by side. Their conversation went a little like this.
Mara: "That's a blue block, Micah!"
Micah: "Blue block!"
Mara: "It's a square."
Micah: "Square."
The moment was perfect for this momma. It made me appreciate how close they are in age. We have given two kids a gift no one else could give - each other. I am filled with the love that's in our home. Thank you God for our two blessings.
