Friday Funnies

I walked into the bathroom and saw Mara attempting to hover over the toilet in a standing position.  She's not tall enough to stand and straddle the toilet, so you can imagine what she looked like.  I asked her what she was doing and she said going potty.  I asked her why she was standing like that and she said, "Daddy potty."

Mara got a doll house for Christmas, and it came with some chairs.
Mara informed me that if you flip a chair over, it can also be used as a "pump."  Sometimes you will find Mara sitting on the couch with the "pump" pressed against her belly.

We had a dead squirrel out by a tree last fall.  Mara asked about it, so I told her it was dead.  We hasn't discussed death before, but she didn't understand what it meant anyway.  It happens to still be there, so when the snow melted she saw it.  She ran over to it, and turned back to me and in a completely shocked voice she asked, "Still sleeping?"

We aren't known as Mommy and Daddy around her anymore.  You will frequently hear Mara ask Lance in a very serious tone something like, "Ready to eat, Lance?"  Sometimes she is a bit more respectful and asks, "Where you at, Daddy Lance?"  She typically only uses my name when I'm not answering her or she's looking for me.  "Mommy?  Mommy?  MOMMY COLE?"

We hopped out of the car, and Mara noticed the clouds.  This wasn't the first time she has noticed them because she has become obsessed with finding the sun, moon and stars.  However, for whatever reason, she just realized at that moment she couldn't touch the clouds.  This sent her into a tizzy!  She was yelling in disgust because she, "Can't reach 'em!"

Mara is my little social butterfly.  If someone doesn't reach out to her first in conversation, you can about bet she will somehow get their attention.  We were at the grocery store and met a lady in an aisle who didn't say anything to us.  Mara turns around and follows the lady telling her how we are going to go to a hotel and go swimming for Grandpa Greg's birthday.  The lady had no idea Mara was even talking to her because she had her back turned.  Mara was about to get in front of the lady to get her attention, but I quickly grabbed her.

I was making dinner, and Mara was playing the iPad.  I heard her yell "No!" a couple of times, but when I looked back the iPad was pushed off to the side so I wasn't sure who she was talking to.  The game she had been playing was prompting her to continue playing with "Touch the letter M."  "When you see the letter M, touch it."  All of a sudden, she gets mad and yells towards the iPad, "No!  Eating supper!"
